Joey is a chubby tuxedo cat approximately five years old. He has made a ton of progress this past year. Joey was a feral cat living in Radcliff who was brought to our shelter last year by one of our workers. When Joey first arrived he hid in our laundry room, either in the actual linens or seven feet off the ground on top of the shelves. Occasionally he wanted to be pet or brushed but he was very nervous and shy. After about a month of this he was relocated to the main area of our basement and quickly made a friend in Pearl, a former feral as well that had recently arrived at ARC. Like Pearl, Joey preferred to literally be above it all and look down on us from atop his cat tree. As time went on he started to work his way down the tree and craved more and more attention. A few months ago Joey was ready to take the next bold step and join the majority of the cats which like to hang out on the main floor. Joey would start to go upstairs everyday around 12 pm or 1. He was rather jumpy for a time but clearly showed that this is where he wanted to spend the bulk of his time. Since coming upstairs he has made several new friends, including Zeus a senior dog at the shelter. Joey can be spotted during the day taking naps with other cats on one of the many sofas and he really seems to love all cats and dogs he meets. He is coming up to us seeking out attention now which just shows the huge transformation he has gone through. He will make someone an awesome pet and is totally worth the investment of effort and time. Adoption Fees: $60 for Cats, $70 for DogsAll our pets are spayed, neutered, and up-to-date on all shots.
